The Short Verdict
If you are building a newsletter as a primary business or side hustle, beehiiv is the strongest choice. It combines a clean editor, built-in monetization, and a recommendation network that actively grows your audience. If you are a small business needing a broader marketing suite (CRM, SMS, email), Brevo is the better fit.
If you are on a tight budget but still need advanced automation, Moosend is a solid, low-cost alternative.
The 3 Factors That Change Your Decision
Choosing the right platform depends on three things: your monetization goals, your technical comfort, and your current audience size. If you plan to charge for subscriptions, you need a platform with native Stripe integration and zero platform fees. If you have zero subscribers, a generous free tier is non-negotiable.
If you hate coding, you need a drag-and-drop website builder included in the price.
Practical Strengths and Limitations
beehiiv excels at making newsletters look professional with minimal effort. Its AI writing assistant and recommendation network are genuine growth levers. However, it is not a full CRM.
If you need complex sales pipelines or SMS marketing, you will outgrow it. Brevo offers those advanced features but has a steeper learning curve and a less intuitive newsletter editor. Moosend is highly affordable and includes robust automation, but its interface feels dated compared to modern creator-first tools.
Who Should Use Which Tool
Choose beehiiv if you are a creator, writer, or niche expert focused on audience growth and paid subscriptions. Choose Brevo if you run a small business or e-commerce store that needs email marketing tied to a CRM. Choose Moosend if you are a solo operator or small team that needs powerful automation workflows without the high price tag of enterprise tools.
Your Next Step
Do not overthink the initial setup. All three platforms offer free tiers or trials. If you are starting a newsletter today, check the official free trial for beehiiv.
